Dreadball Game Summary
So, last friday i had a game of Dreadball, after getting the Xtreme Xpansion last week. And so, two teams got ready to kick some ass and play dreadball, but were all out of dreadball...ah getting carried away. :)
The two teams were my marauders versus some human scum. We played the “The Gauntlet”-Arena from the Challenge Cup book.
More after the jump.

Workbench Wednesday
Actual shot of the workbench:
Currently painting a Dreadball giant, namely Barricade. Never played him yet, and unsure if i ever will. (:
Will be my first mini with black armour. Studied some tutorials and asked some hobby friends, so lets see how it will turn out.
Regards and stay tuned for updates.

Workbench Wednesday
Here the shot of my workbench:
Nothing new on the painting front. But i got me an early christmas gift, something to bring me through these cold, dark nights of painting. :)
Installed it yesterday and, wow, supreme lighting compared to my former desk lamp.
Now i just need time to paint when its dark outside. :)
Regards and stay tuned for updates.

Workbench Wednesday
Here is an actual picture of my workbench:
Currently i assemble the last pieces of my second Sorylian Core Helix box. The light skimmers and infantry is done. The Huk'ka waits to be glued to its base. The Bor'Kas are cleaned and washed. The medium skimmer will need some green stuff, because the aft had a large air bubble which i found when cutting away the resin remains from the casting. Had the same to be done with the Huk'ka. Will do this when i fill the gaps in the infantry bases.
The work should be done till friday, because saturday is club time and there is a warm place for priming the minis.
Regards and stay tuned for updates.

Recon Helix finished
Finished my Sorylian Recon Helix this weekend and took some pictures.
The skiff was the first piece completed.
The Jag'gors took a little longer. I remembered the reason why i dont play tabletop games with mass armies. :) And here there were only eight.
Had them only blue/grey at first. But they looked so plain without the "eye" the other walkers had. So i painted a front panel of the hull with a glowing effect.
Now they only need some varnish to be finished.
Regards and stay tuned for updates.

Feeling a little demotivated
Hi all, just some plain text, no pictures.
Do you know the situation, when there are masses of minis on your workbench, waituing for you to splatter some paint on them? And you can not motivate you to answer their calls? Now i am hit by this. I don't have the time to play with my toys, so why should i paint them? And then the build-up campaign, forcing me to paint the same scheme over and over again, on the same minis. Don't get me wrong, the heavy sorylian infantry are some of the coolest minis i have to paint for my planetfall force. But eventually these get old to.
I hope it gets better next week. Already made up a game for saturday, really anticipate it. I plan on getting some nice pics and make a batrep.
Havent decided yet what the next 850 points will be for the campaign, i think one more huk'ka and, again :( , heavy infantry.
If this campaign is over, i think i will start my mounted warriors for my saga warband. Or plan my Next-Year-Project, a Dead Mans Hand diorama with the Black Scorpion mexicans i purchased at the CRISIS convention.
So, on to the workbench, preparing and gluing the remaining sorylians, that this part of hobby work gets done till christmas. :)
How do you handle those situations?
Regards and stay tuned for updates.

Workbench Wednesday
Yeah, i am lazy. :)
Here is the wednesday shot of my workbench:
As you can see, the paint station is nearly empty. Finished the last squadron of Ja'Gors (will put up some pics at the weekend). Now only the infantry upgrades are left.
Next to the paint station are the next miniatures, waiting to be primed and painted. They will be my next 800 points for our build-up campaign. (here the link to the rules, if you understand german :) )
Regards and stay tuned for updates.

Workbench Wednesday
This time a again on wednesday. :)
The first squadron of Ja'Gors is completed, waiting for the grass on the base. Perhaps i can finish them, after the little one hits bed this evening. The second sqaudron is in the paint shop and has the first paint splattered on them.
Will have a game with them on friday and i promise to take pictures and write a battle report. :)

Travel Report Crisis 2015
Was on a trip this weekend. Got some friends, a car and off we went to a convention, everyone knows and loves.
We got there friday evening and got the chance to walk around while the traders and clubs set up their tables. One of us even got his first shoppings done. :)
Next day arrived at Crisis and only 200 people were before us in the line... and 1000 behind us. We took our time to look around and in the end stayed six hours. I got me some new toys, watched the Perrys sculpt and was impressed by some of the game tables, especially the Dust table and the Frostgrave table, wonderful pieces.
Great convention, i think i will be back next year.
On a side note, what are the gulls eating here?
Regards and stay tuned for updates

Workbench Wednesday
Yeah, i know, its Thursday. :)
Currently working on the next squadron of my recon helix, basic colors and a shade are applied to the Ja'Gors, next step will be some drybrushing and weapons. Also there are some infantry upgrades, sweeper teams, which got some color while i had to wait for the Ja'Gors drying.
If you come here every week, you will have noticed my newest piece on the workbench, a DIY paint rack. Had some material left over from a Heerschau project from last year and used my leet engineering skillz to build me something useful.

Heavy Cruiser Squadron finished
I have finished my squadron of heavy cruisers for my Sorylian naval forces.
The gunracks are magnetized, so that i can field them as heavy or standard variant.
For my next ships i may think about masking the hull, as my free hand skills aren't the best. And the white lines on the side of the hull may become more straight.
So, last part of my sorylian force is the dreadnought, waiting to be painted, completing my collection. :)

Workbench Wednesday
Another Wednesday, another Update:
The cruisers from last week are finished and will leave the shipyard this evening. I will take some pictures with a better background.
Actually in the works is a Sorylian Recon Helix from Firstorm Planetfall. The heavy skiff is nearly done and the troops are waiting to get their armour and weapons painted. Will have to speed up a little, as the deadline for the whole helix is in two weeks and hobby time is rar. :)

Workbench Wednesday
I like to introduce to you the new category of posts in my blog: the Workbench Wednesday.
I will make a picture of my workbench every wednesday , post it and tell you something about actual projects. First things first, the picture:
Yes, i know, far to tidy to be a workbench. :)
In the process of painting is a squadron of cruisers/heavy cruisers for Firestorm Armada. Main colors are applied, currently the glow effects of the drive systems are made. The gun racks for each cruiser variant are magnetized and completed.
Also in the main working area is a Sky Drop marker for Firestorm Planetfall, the first thing from the Recon Helix, which i will paint after the cruisers. (should be completed till 13.11., to fullfil the requirements for our gaming club build-up campaign; Link to rules (german) ). In the background you can see (or imagine :) ) the other squads of light walkers, the heavy skiff and some heavy infantry.
And last but not least, due to bad lighting not visible, but present in the picture is the sorylian dreadnought.
Regards and stay tuned for updates

I choosed the colors of the Teutonic Order, white for the heathguard and a dark gray for the warriors.
Some close-ups: (i experimented with a setup to get nice shots, but i think the ligthing needs improvement :) ).

Planetfall Battlereport 1400 vs. Relthoza
Hello everyone,
had a game last night against some spiders. The picture shows the aftermath of the battle, which was my first victory in planetfall. :)
Game started with the recon moves, relthoza won and moved the light walkers near the secondary objective and the medium walkers moved to gain some ground. My light skimmers moved behind the forest on the right side.
First turn brought some damage to my medium walker squadron and to the relthoza heavy walker. The spiders droped both spires near my tertiary objective, releasing their drone contens, but were held at bay by my heavy infantry and the transport. Same infantry occupied the building holding the objective. My skimmer moved in the flank of the medium walkers and did some damage, loosing two skimmers in the course of this turn.
Second turn was the heroic turn of my Sorylians. The elements to winning this game were a Forlon Hope Huk'Ka and my heavy infantry in the building. The heavy walker moved forward and decimated the light relthoza walkers to one with a Forlon Hope marker, freeing the secondary objective from them and giving nice TV. The second heroic act was my heavy infantry, defending against two storming attemts and securing the last needed TV for my 0/+2 victory.
A nice game with some absurd dice throws on both sides with me having more luck. :)

Planetfall Battlereport 1400 vs. Directorate
So, in the course of our build-up campaign, i had a game against Directorate last night. We both took our half core helix with some infantry upgrades, playing a game of 1400 points and a Zero Counter of 14.
Setup from the view of my command vehicle:
Zero Counter: 12/5 for Directorate
Setup from the view of my command vehicle:
I placed my helix at the center of the deplyment zone, shieldilding the lights and the transport skimmer with the medium walkers.
After playing to much against aquans i let my recon units stay in the deployment zone in the recon phase, the directorate buggies flat out to the center and hide behind the forest.
I got to go first, let the heavy cruise forward and fire at the cyberwarfare cars. Managed to damage one of them. The lights cruised forward and hide behind the building near the center. The medium walker and the transport followed them, and the heavy infantry occupied my tertiary objective. My enemy moved forward with all his squadrons, killing one of the medium walkers, occupying his tertiary and closing in to the secondary objective.
Zero Counter: 13/11 for Directorate
Beginning of Second turn:
The second turn started with the cyberwarfare cars and the "activated" my lonely medium walker. My lights moved in the flank of them and took two of them out. In return, the heavy and the medium tanks destroyed the squadron of lights. My heavy walker fired upon the transport, but left him unharmed.
Third turn:
In the third turn, i lost my transport and the medium walker. The Directorate buggies cruised forward, loosing two cars in the overwatch fire of my heavy infantry, but killing two of them.
In the end, the Zero Counter stood 11/0 in favour of the directorate forces.
After this game my Win/Loss-Ratio is 0/5.

Starting Planetfall
There is a new kid in town and his name is Firestorm Planetfall.
My local gaming club recently decided to take a look in the Planetfall game system. And so a build-up campaign was set up. We started with a single Core Helix for everyone and i took the same faction as in Firestorm Armada: the lizards.
After building the models as fast as possible, last friday the first games were made and i got to play against the relthoza core helix.
The table was set up as shown in the picture below:

After some exchange of ranged fire, the units closed in and captured the objectivs. After two rounds the heavy relthoza walker and the unit of light tanks were forlorn hope, best of all already activated. Then the skydrops arrived and did shake up the whole battlefield. Some more CQB did happen and in the end the relthoza won with a 0/+1 victory.
I have to say, its a really fast paced game, having mechanics similar to Firestorm Armada, so just a little look-up in the rulebook for the details was needed.
Next on the list is to bring some paint on these wonderful moddels and to decide, which helix i should get next.

Workbench
After i completed my 4 Points Militis Christ warband, there is room on my workbench for a new project.
Digging through my box of unfinished minis the choise was made for the Marauder Stuntbot and my smelly little friend Boomer.
Paint scheme for the Stuntbot will be the same as my rippersuits, grey and iron...and some Blood for the Blood God on the buzz saw. :)

Deadzone: Mawbeast Bomber Conversion
So, time to post some stuff.
For my Deadzone Strike Team of Marauders i searched a way to play my Mawbeasts in both variants with a WYSIWYG style. So i cut the bomb from them, drilled a hole and sunk a steel nail in.

After that, i took some spare parts from my "Mauler" Rippersuits (the one from the Knockback CC Weapon) and sunk a 3x2mm magnet into them.
The Bombs were painted in a suitable paint scheme and of they go...BOOM!!
